Cruise Victoria Fleet Size Increases

On June 12th, Cruise Victoria took delivery of our eleventh (11) coach, a bright shiny Prevost H3-45. This 60 passenger coach is state of the art climate controlled, restroom equipped, with spacious luggage bays and DVD Video Entertainment System. The coach is presently being painted in the CVS Cruise Victoria blue and silver livery and is anticipated to be in service by late June.

This new coach brings a new era to Cruise Victoria and will start regular sightseeing tour operations to and from the Butchart Gardens. The coach will also operate on our shuttle services operating between Ogden Point Cruise Terminal and Downtown Victoria shuttling Cruise Ship guests between the piers and the downtown commercial district.

As with the rest of Cruise Victoria's fleet of motor coaches, this new Prevost will operate on a bio-diesel mix which will reduce it's environmental impact.

Cruise Victoria goes 100% Bio Diesel...

In an article posted recently in the Victoria Times Colonist, it stated;

'Cruise Victoria, the company running shuttle buses from Ogden Point to downtown for cruise ship passengers, has switched to 100 per cent biodiesel from Columbia Fuels Inc. to cut emissions and save money.

"Each motor coach carries about 50 passengers, and depending on the number of ships arriving, between four and eight buses will be at Ogden Point", said Cruise Victoria manager Gary Gale.

"One of the major concerns was tailpipe emissions from the buses," Gale said. The biodiesel costs about 20 cents per litre less than regular diesel.

Its fleet of 11 coaches started using 20 per cent biodiesel last year and moved to 50 per cent by July. As of this season, the coaches are using 100 per cent biodiesel, he said.

The switch is expected to reduce carcinogenic tailpipe emissions by up to 90 per cent.

This fuel is made from North American soy oil, a byproduct of soybeans grown for animal feed, and does not compete with subsistence food crops.'
